She began her career at the national thought leader magazine, Utne Reader, after graduating with a BA in English literature from St. Olaf College and pursuing graduate studies in English literature at the National University of Ireland, Galway. In 2019, she received a Folio Award for best range of work by a single author, recognizing the breadth and quality of her reporting for Experience Life magazine.
